National Award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has completed the shooting of his upcoming film ‘The Wives’. Known for making realistic and society-based films, Bhandarkar once again turns his camera towards the hidden side of Bollywood.
Over the years, Madhur Bhandarkar has made powerful films like Chandni Bar, Page 3, Fashion, Heroine, Traffic Signal, and Babli Bouncer. His movies often show the real truth behind glamour, fame, and success. ‘The Wives’ continues that same journey.
The film stars Sonali Kulkarni, Mouni Roy, Regina Cassandra, Rahul Bhatt, Saurabh Sachdeva, Arjan Bajwa, and Freddy Daruwala. Each actor plays an important role in showing the emotional lives of women who live close to stardom but away from the spotlight.
‘The Wives’ focuses on the personal lives of star wives and women connected to powerful men in the film industry. While the world sees glamour, luxury, and fame, the film shows the emotional pressure, insecurity, ambition, and struggles that exist behind closed doors. Talking about the film, Madhur Bhandarkar said, “ 'The Wives' is a story that looks beyond fame and spotlight. It shows the personal lives that often get lost behind success. The film explores relationships, ambition, insecurity, and emotional survival in an image-driven world. I wanted to tell this story with honesty and sensitivity.”
Producer Pranav Jain of PJ Motion Pictures also shared his thoughts on the project. He said working with Madhur Bhandarkar is always a creatively satisfying experience. According to him, ‘The Wives’ is a bold and emotional film that will connect strongly with audiences who like meaningful cinema.
The film is produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment and PJ Motion Pictures. This is Madhur Bhandarkar and Pranav Jain’s second collaboration after their earlier project post-lockdown. Their partnership focuses on realistic and content-driven films based on today’s reality.
With the shooting now completed, the film has moved into post-production. Editing and background music work will begin soon. While the release date has not been announced yet, the makers are expected to reveal more details in the coming months.
