National Press Day–2025: Press Club of India and Accredited Journalists Association Honour Senior Journalists in a Grand Ceremony

On the occasion of National Press Day–2025, a grand national ceremony jointly organized by the Accredited Journalists Association and the Press Club of India was successfully held at the Press Club of India. The presence of senior journalists, media experts, and representatives from various institutions from across the country made the event truly historic.

The program began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by addresses from distinguished guests who shared their important views on the role and challenges of the media.

Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi, President of the Accredited Journalists Association, said, “National Press Day is not merely a celebration but also an opportunity for introspection. Public interest, courage, and impartiality—these are the true strengths of journalism.”

On this occasion, several senior journalists were honored for their distinguished contributions, including Dilbar Gothi, Sanjeev Upadhyay, Rakesh Thapliyal, Ram Das, Manas Banerjee, Sushil Jhalani, Guru Basavayya, Shikoh Azad, Ms. Vinita Yadav, Krishna Kumar Tiwari, Mohammad Ilyas, Sushil Kumar, Sunil Sharma (Editor, Delhi Press Saral Salil), Rahul Sharma, and O.P. Gautam, among many others.

Dr Suniel Parashar Felicitated for Journalism Work

Senior journalist and creative film director Dr. Suniel Parashar was also felicitated and presented with a shawl. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Parashar said, “Such recognition boosts the morale of journalists. In today’s digital age, we must keep not only our eyes and ears open but our mobile phones as well. I appreciate Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi for his continued efforts over the years to uplift the morale of journalists.”

Senior journalist Dilbar Gothi said, “It is our collective responsibility to remain committed to bringing the truth to light.”

Addresses by the Chief Guests, Swadesh Bhushan said, “The essence of journalism lies in the pursuit of truth. In the digital era, this responsibility becomes even greater, as information must be not only fast but also accurate.K. Shivakumar stated, “The biggest challenge before journalists today is maintaining credibility. Technology assists us, but it is the journalist’s judgment that ultimately guides their work.” Sudhir Mahajan (Retd. IAS) said, “Democracy becomes strong only when journalism is impartial and fearless. The media is both a mirror of the nation and a guiding force. Anil Kumar Saxena (IIS) remarked, “Journalism is not just a profession but a medium of public service.
