For Nivedita Basu, Ganesh Chaturthi holds great significance. The Senior VP at Atrangii says that she and her family have always celebrated the festival with much fanfare, albeit in a private setting.
Actress Reflects on 25 Years of Intimate Ganesh Chaturthi at In-Laws' Home
“Ganesh Chaturthi, I think, is the only big festival in my in-laws' house. They have been welcoming Ganpati Ji into their home for the past 25 years. But it is a small affair. It’s a private event, almost like a meeting with God,” she says.
Talking about how she manages to take time off work for the festivities, she shares, “I think anyone can take out one and a half days for Ganpati. Work does come up, but I am not compromising on anything. Work happens side by side.”
She adds, “Visiting Ganpati, especially for just one and a half days, gets very difficult. But at my friend's place, where they keep Ganpati for more days, my family and I make it a point to go for prayers at night on some days.”
When asked what she will ask from Bappa this year, she says, “Every year, what I ask for is good health and good thoughts. Everything else takes a backseat. I feel if your health is fine, you can do everything and anything on your own. Negativity and demoralization stay away.”
