Producer Ashok Shekhar’s sentimental 70th Bday celebrations—‘yeh shaam mastaani’ ! by Chaitanya Padukone

This late evening ‘homely’ exclusive get-together became a ‘yeh shaam mastaani’ with gracious host showbiz-veteran Ashok Shekhar and his family ensuring that all the invited guests had a wonderful time. Eminent producer-impresario Ashok Shekhar ( son of 'late' ‘legendary versatile actor-film-maker, social-welfare activist Chandrashekhar ) ---who has completed 51 years of his showbiz career, was celebrating his 70th  Birthday--- with his family, close relatives and close friends. Enthused Ashok as he posed with his caring wife Rani Shekhar and talented son Vishal, “Celebrating my 70th Birthday is mainly a suhaana- bahaana for me to sentimentally re-connect and mingle with my close friends who have always been with me for past several decades,” said Ashok.

The prominent invitees at Ashok’s homely Bday included Dharmpal Sewkaransing ( from Holland) , Suresh Kumar ( Senior politician from Hyderabad ), actor-businessman Rajesh Aggarwal, famous Hari Singh-jee senior business manager, stunning star actress-model-author Samaira Sandhu, Bharat-bhai Ashar ( who was business manager to legend R D Burman) ,popular model-actor Balvir Chand (Sachin Tendulkar look-alike), Amarjeet Singh ( also senior business manager), Subroto Ghosh,  eminent writer  and popular Film-Industry leader and impresario Ashfaque Khopekar, impresario Raju Tank with Puneet Khare, Arun Nair (Builder-Fortune Group), Jugraj Jain (Investor Promoter), Vijay-bhai Shah,  author-photographer Pradeep Chandra, Jyothi Venkatesh, Camaal Mustafa with his associate property consultant Aliasgar Boxwala, Ramakant Munde and Pushkar Oza Legendary grandfather Chandrashekar’s and son Ashok’s showbiz legacy talent has been taken forward by his prolific ad-film maker son Vishal Shekhar ( not to be confused with the famous music composer duo) who has made hundreds of popular ad-films-commercials with top-celeb models as well. Since past several years Vishal is acclaimed for his innovative creative work among the advertising fraternity.

Incidentally, Ashok informs me with a sense of achievement that he “started his journey with late iconic film-maker Shakti-da Samanta in March 1973 was with him right up to 1983.. I used to work as production-head for his movies including Barsaat Ki Ek Raat (1981) and I was also with Shakti-da when he made landmark movies much earlier like ‘Ajnabee and Anurodh.  Of course it’s a matter of great pride for me that I am the son of versatile veteran actor-pioneer producer-director and social-welfare activist Chandrashekhar-ji--- he was an inspiring institution, and I learnt so much from him. Well, I know I will always have my Dad’s blessings, that keeps me going ahead in life, “ insists cheerful, optimistic 'joshila' Ashok who said he is undergoing medical treatment for his renal ailment.
