The statement also states that he is not working alone and operates with two women and another accomplice, and together they’re pretending to cast for important roles in our shows, often promising “parallel leads” or “continuity characters” to reel people in. The statement states further, “The scammer uses a profile picture of Rajan Shahi (a well-known industry figure) and other media content from social platforms to make himself appear credible…This is a deliberate strategy to make the victim believe they are interacting with a legitimate industry professional.”

These scammers are mainly targeting actors from out of town or semi-known names, people who may be vulnerable, ambitious, or simply looking for a real break in the industry. “Once the victim is hooked, the fraudster asks for personal documents to prepare a fake agreement…They also demand an upfront payment or fees that range from ₹3 lakh or even more, depending on the victim’s level of urgency or desperation,” states the statement. The production house urges those, who get such a call or message, to not proceed without verifying. “If you or someone you know has fallen victim to this scam, report it to CINTAA (if you are a member of CINTAA),” states the statement.
