Amazon MX Player unveiled the trailer of its upcoming socio-political thriller web series Sankalp at a grand event in Mumbai. Director Prakash Jha, actors Nana Patekar, Kranti Prakash Jha, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and actress Kubbra Sait were present at the launch. The stars not only spoke about the series but also grabbed attention with their stylish appearances. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub looked dashing, while Kubbra Sait appeared elegant in a saree.

Prakash Jha spoke about the project
During the event, National Award-winning filmmaker Prakash Jha emphasized the importance of the original writer. He said, “Thank you for asking this question because I was going to mention it myself. The inspiration and credit for this project goes to its original writer Reshu Nath. She is the one who worked really hard on it, and the Jio team also supported her.”
Clarifying the perception that he only makes political films, Jha said, “I don’t know how this misconception spread that I only make political or socio-political films. I simply tell stories. The roots of my stories often come from society and politics, but ultimately a film works only when we understand people, connect with them, walk with them, live with them and laugh with them.”
He further explained that although his stories are inspired by social and political contexts, his main focus remains on understanding people and presenting stories that emotionally connect with audiences. He also acknowledged the significant contribution of Reshu Nath and highlighted the collaborative effort behind the series. Jha also thanked the Amazon MX Player team for supporting the project.

Nana Patekar on his OTT debut
Veteran actor Nana Patekar also attended the event and received a warm welcome as he came on stage. Speaking about his OTT debut, he said it does not matter whether the work is for theatre, television, OTT or cinema—work is work. Every medium has its own nuances that an actor must understand.
He also mentioned that Hindi is not his mother tongue, so he speaks it imperfectly, but the director and the team help him a lot. Nana Patekar added that the real hero of any film or show is its story.

About his character
In the series, Nana Patekar will be seen playing the role of “Master Saheb.” His character is that of a sharp strategist who has the ability to change the game with his intelligence and planning. The role is said to be crucial to the story.
Master Saheb runs a school where girls are educated and young students are trained for UPSC examinations. Speaking about the role, Nana Patekar said, “Playing Master Saheb has been a great experience for me and encouraged me to explore a new dimension as an actor. It is a character filled with silence, struggle and consequences.”
On the changing attitude of actors
During the event, Nana Patekar also commented on the changing attitude of actors in the industry. He said, “As an actor, I feel it is my responsibility that if Prakash calls me, I should answer the phone. Saying ‘talk to my manager or agency’ feels wrong to me. If such a big director wants you to work in his project, how can you say that? I don’t have that kind of status.”

He added, “We artists should understand that we exist because of filmmakers like them. Sometimes we start believing that the industry cannot function without us, but that is not true. A filmmaker can make a successful film even without stars.”
Working again with Prakash Jha
Nana Patekar also shared his thoughts about collaborating again with Prakash Jha. He said, “Working with Prakash Jha again is always special because his stories never explain everything directly. They present the world as it really is and leave a lasting impact.”
He further added that this project is even more special for him because it marks his OTT debut with Amazon MX Player, and he is eagerly waiting for audiences to experience the world of Sankalp.
Praised Prakash Jha and Saurabh Dwivedi
At the event, Nana Patekar praised director Prakash Jha and also spoke about journalist Saurabh Dwivedi. He said that if he had the kind of command over Hindi that Saurabh Dwivedi has, he would have created havoc in the industry.
He also shared how Prakash Jha helped him during dubbing. According to Nana, since Hindi is not his mother tongue, the director carefully guides him through pronunciation and dialogue delivery during the dubbing process.
Nana as a cook on set
Known for his candid style, Nana Patekar also shared an amusing incident from the shoot. He revealed that along with acting, he also took on the responsibility of cooking for the team.

He said that when he signed the project, he jokingly had two roles—one was acting and the other was cooking for everyone after pack-up. According to him, cooking helped him release the stress of the day and brought joy to the entire team.

In the series, Nana Patekar plays Master Saheb, a powerful and strategic mentor whose character appears inspired by Chanakya-like strategies. He runs a school and trains young students for UPSC exams.
Neeraj Kabi and Sanjay Kapoor appear as ideological rivals, and their conflict adds intensity to the story. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub plays a loyal disciple whose dedication to his mentor brings emotional depth to the narrative. Kubbra Sait and Kranti Prakash Jha will also be seen in important roles.
