Mika Singh, a prominent figure in Hindi cinema, appeared on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast to discuss his life, music career, and journey so far. During the conversation, he revealed the difficulties he faced while producing the film Dangerous, which starred actress Bipasha Basu and her husband, actor Karan Singh Grover.

The Omelette Incident: Shooting Delayed for 3 Hours

Mika shared some shocking details from the sets of Dangerous (2020), which he had produced. He said that one day, the shoot was delayed by three hours just because of an omelette. "At 11 AM, I got a call saying we couldn't begin shooting because Bipasha hadn’t eaten breakfast and had come straight to the set. She then complained about the poor production quality," he said.

Mika mentioned he had already arranged for a personal chef on set for such emergencies. "I immediately told the chef to make her an omelette, but by then, it was too late. It felt awful to see my money going to waste over something as trivial as an omelette," he added.

Dealing with Karan Singh Grover's Tantrums

Mika further revealed that the problems weren’t limited to Bipasha. He had to deal with Karan Singh Grover’s issues too. Mika said Karan injured his leg during a minor stunt involving kicking a suitcase. “It was a very basic stunt—more like a child’s play. But his leg broke, and instead of coming to India for treatment, he stayed back. This stalled the shoot for three months, leading to heavy losses,” Mika said.

Due to these challenges, the budget of the film ballooned from ₹4 crores to ₹14 crores.

Producers Have No Value

Mika reflected on the harsh reality of being a producer. "I used to think producers had a lot of authority, but the truth is—they're just there to handle actors’ tantrums,” he said. He learned the hard way that producers often go unappreciated despite investing time and money.

I Thought I Was a Good Producer

Mika once believed he was one of the best producers, second only to Dharma Productions. “But now I see that if actors treat producers like servants, it's a shame. Producers should be respected like gods—they’re the ones who bring your talent to the world,” he remarked.

After this experience, Mika has decided never to produce a film again. However, he clarified that he holds no personal grudge against Bipasha or Karan, but he believes actors must value time and professionalism.

He also mentioned in the podcast that he still dreams of making a film like Himesh Reshammiya—where he would be the lead actor himself.
