He spoke to MayaPuri about his role and the show. Here are some highlights from the interview: Can you tell us about your character? I’m very excited about this role. It is quite different from any character I’ve played before. This character is powerful and strong. My character’s name is Kalikant Thakur, who has a unique way of speaking. He interacts differently with his daughter, mother, and villagers. The role is dark, complex, and mysterious. How challenging has this role been for you as an actor? I believe television writing is a medium where a lot of effort goes into crafting the characters. The writers for this show have done an exceptional job, whether it’s Mr. Jha or the others. The way they have brought my character to life on screen is commendable. As an actor, my job is to portray the role well according to their vision. My journey to understand this character has been quite enriching. You have appeared in many films and are now returning to TV. What are your thoughts on this? On TV, especially in Indian television, there are very few substantial roles written for male actors. However, platforms like OTT have made such roles more common. Characters like Kalikant Thakur are rare on traditional TV. I’m very happy to be playing this role. The show deals with serious issues like discrimination. What’s your take on this? I believe that media reflects the image of our society. Discrimination still exists in some form in our society, which is why Zee TV is addressing it. It’s not easy to entertain people with such topics, but this show will bring a storm of change, including a mental shift. What message would you like to convey to the viewers? I would like to encourage everyone to watch our show. It will start on September 16 at 8:30 PM on Zee TV.
