Punit Pathak Joins 'India's Best Dancer 4' as Act Supervisor

Sony TV's dance reality show 'India's Best Dancer' is coming back with season 4. So far, three seasons of the show have been aired in which Geeta Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Sonali Bendre, and Terence Lewis were seen as judges. The judges of season 4 have not been announced yet. Auditions for the show started in different cities in May itself.

Punit to Supervise Stunts Off-Camera in Upcoming Season

During the auditions in Mumbai, some contestants associated with the show who had been finalized for the show were present. Let us tell you that dancer and choreographer Punit will also be present in this season but not as a judge or choreographer, rather Punit will supervise all the stunts happening in the show, so this time Punit will not be seen on camera.

You have judged many shows, what qualities do you look for in a dancer before selecting him/her?

Not just in dancers but in any profession, first of all, I look for hard work and passion, and apart from that, I look for patience. Today's children do not have any patience at all. Today is the real world, everyone wants everything fast. Patience, passion, and hard work are the things we look for when selecting children.

People believe that auditions are scripted, calling people and showing them in a long line is just for TV. What would you like to say about this?

I have gone through the audition process myself, I have stood in that line myself. Those who believe that people come to reality shows by paying money, all these things are false. Such rumors are probably spread by those who are not able to get selected. There is a team that sits for a whole year to find and bring out talent. The team finds such talent and after that, we watch their videos but this does not mean that they are selected and it also does not mean that we line up people to cheat, nothing like this happens. There is a format where we take auditions three to four times and only after that do we select the contestant and we all follow this format. If any person ever tells a contestant that he is from the production and he will take that child ahead in the competition by taking money, it means that that person is wrong. You should complain against him.

When a contestant is not selected, many times they become emotional, so how do you guys face that?

This happens many times but one has to swallow the truth. Many people move forward after getting rejected like this. One should always keep moving forward in life. I have to do justice to the chair I am sitting on and so when someone's dance is not good, he has to say this. Today the competition in dance has become very good and strong. All the dancers in every reality show are very good. This competition is very tough, if ten contestants have got a yes, then thousands of contestants have also got a no.

What are your expectations from this show?

People's expectations from dance reality shows have increased a lot. In the last few years, the level of dance has become very high, I think I am lucky that I am not a part of this competition right now. The dance that is being done right now is of international level. We also have a lot of expectations from this show because just like the name of the show is 'India's Best Dancer', its work is the same, the best dancers come here. The show is very good where talented dancers come and perform great acts, looking at this, the expectations from it are also high. So far everything has been very good. Very good artists have come and have lived up to our expectations.

Will you be seen in any film as an actor?

There is nothing as an actor but a lot of work is going on as a director and a choreographer. For example, I directed and choreographed Rajkumar Rao's film ‘Srikanth’ which was released recently. I have done a lot of such work which is behind the camera because I like working behind the camera more. Apart from this show, I am working behind the camera in other television shows and movies. I am directing, producing, and choreographing a lot of music videos. I have done three music videos with Saregama, those are also coming. By God's grace things are going well.

After becoming the winner of 'Khatron Ke Khiladi', how many seasons of that show did you follow?

Khatron Ke Khiladi has been the best experience of my life. I went there to give my best, and because of this and the love of the people, I won. I thank everyone very much. After that, I have followed the seasons of the show, not completely, but a little bit. A lot of people have gone this year too and as far as I know, no one from a dancing background has gone this year.

If you get a chance to do Bigg Boss, would you like to go?

I get offers from Bigg Boss every year and I refuse because I feel that I am not ready for Bigg Boss at this stage of my career. I feel that I don't need to go to Bigg Boss right now. I liked the show very much, I watched it and also choreographed it many times. Many of my friends have also been to that show like Nishant, Ali, Jasmin, Rubina, Gauhar, and there are many other people whom I know who have been a part of this show.

Bharti's show 'Laughter Chefs' is coming, in which you are not seen, why is that?

Because they did not take me. Maybe they thought that I was not good enough for this show or I didn't know how to cook. I believe that one gets what is rightfully theirs. It was my luck that I got 'Khatra Khatra Khatra' and 'Khatra Khatra Khatra' gave me a lot of love. I had a very good bond with Harsh and Bharti in that show. I would like to wish you all the best for the show.

I would like to say about my show that India's Best Dancer is going to be very different this time, it’s fun is going to be four times more.

Will we get to see your Dharmesh and Raghav Jodi in this show?

We used to be seen together in Dance Plus but this time Raghav was busy, and Dharmesh did not have to do the show. If you want to see us together in a movie then it depends on Remo Sir. Remo Sir has said that he has started scripting 'ABCD 3'. And if Remo Sir feels that I, Raghav, and Dharmesh fit in that movie then we will be very happy. Hopefully, this happens.
