Gene Hackman Death: Oscar winner Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and their dog were found dead in their home in New Mexico on 26 February 2025. Gene Hackman's brilliant career
Gene Hackman was a brilliant actor who won Academy Awards for the 1971 violent drug saga The French Connection and the 1992 Western Unforgiven. One of the rare Hollywood stars to receive critical acclaim in independent films and appear in blockbusters for a generation, he was also known for playing Lex Luthor in the original Superman films starring Christopher Reeve.
Gene Hackman has worked in more than 80 films
During his long career that began in the early 1960s, the former Marine appeared in more than 80 films (gene hackman movies) as well as on television and stage. In addition to his two Oscars, he also won two Bafta Awards and four Golden Globes. He retired from acting in 2004 and Welcome to Mooseport was his last screen appearance. Gene Hackman was married twice and had three children. His first marriage to Faye Maltese lasted 30 years from 1956 to 86. Hackman married Arakawa in 1991. Prior to his film career, he served in the United States Marine Corps for four years from 1947-51.
