Anubhav Sinha on Ajay Devgn: ‘No conversation for 18 years, not even a message…’

Anubhav Sinha on Ajay Devgn: Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha teamed up with actor Ajay Devgn for the 2007 film Cash. However, they never worked together for any project again, leading to reports of a rift between the two. Now, Anubhav Sinha has clarified those rumours, saying that he has not spoken to Ajay Devgn for 18 years.

"He never answers my messages"

He said in an interview, "We have never had a fight. He just doesn't talk to me and I don't know why. Since the making of Cash, we have never met, so I can't tell you that he ignores me or something, so maybe, it's just me overthinking. However, I messaged him two-three times, and never got a reply, so I told myself that maybe he forgot or missed my message. But, it's been almost 18 years since we spoke."

Reacting to rumours of a rift between the two, Anubhav said, "There was never any rift between us. It was a rift between the producer and the financier. I was neither of them." When asked if there was any rift over a song that Ajay wanted to work in, the filmmaker said, "There was no rift over any song, I don't know of any... it's not true."

However, Anubhav Sinha speculated that tweeting about people's political views might have upset the actor. He said, "In between I commented on people's political views, so I must have said something to him as well. But he was not the only person I commented about. I have said something to many people, but I still maintain good relations with all of them. I am his fan and respect him a lot as an actor and a person."

Talking about the director's films, he last directed IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack movie. This web series was based on true events in which Vijay Varma played the lead role. The story of this film is that on Christmas Eve, Air India flight IC 814 from Kathmandu to Delhi was hijacked by five terrorists just minutes after takeoff. To meet their demands, they took the passengers and crew of the plane hostage.
