Reports suggest that jailed gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Rohit Godara took responsibility for the shooting.

According to viral threats circulating online, the gang allegedly planned two shootings on the night of September 1—one on Victoria Island and the other in Woodbridge, Toronto. AP Dhillon was also threatened, with references to his alleged connections to Salman Khan. The threats warned him to "stay within his limits," or face dire consequences. A viral video showed a man firing multiple shots outside a house at night, although the location remains unconfirmed.
