Big B sold his house to pay off his debt, Rajinikanth revealed

South superstar Rajinikanth and Bollywood veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan's film 'Vettaiyaan' has been in the news for quite some time. Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth will be seen sharing the screen after a gap of 33 years in the Tamil action thriller Vettaiyaan. They first worked together in Hum (1991). Not only this, recently Rajinikanth said that Amitabh Bachchan was in a lot of debt and to repay it, he had to work almost 18 hours a day.

When Big B had to sell his properties in Mumbai

In fact, in his latest interview, Rajinikanth recalled the tough time when Amitabh Bachchan had to sell his properties in Mumbai, including his beloved Juhu house, and how some in the Bombay film industry celebrated his downfall. Things finally changed when Amitabh Bachchan went to Yash Chopra to ask for work. Yash gave him a chance to act in Mohabbatein, which marked the beginning of Big B's second innings. He recalled, "One day, he walked into Yash Chopra's house wearing a monkey cap as he no longer had a driver as he couldn't afford to pay him. He asked Yash for work. Yash immediately brought a signed cheque and gave it to him, but Amit ji refused, saying he would take it only if he got work. And that's how he got Mohabbatein. Soon, he also got KBC."

Rajinikanth praised Big B

While praising Amitabh Bachchan's way of working, Rajinikanth said, "He did anything and everything. He did all kinds of advertisements. People in the Bombay industry laughed again after seeing this. For three years, despite many health problems, he worked 18 hours a day and paid off all his dues. Not only did he buy back the old house, he bought a total of three houses in the same street. This is Amitabh Bachchan. He is now 82 years old and still works 10 hours a day".

Talking about the work front, Amitabh Bachchan recently starred in the blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD, which collected Rs 1,042 crore worldwide. Big B will next be seen in Vettaiyaan, directed by T.J. Gnanavel and produced by Subaskaran's Lyca Productions. The film Vettaiyaan will release in theaters on October 10, 2024. Currently, he is also hosting the 16th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).
