Veteran Bollywood actor  Dharmendra passed away today, Monday, November 24, at the age of 89. The news of his passing has saddened the entire nation. Dharmendra, who had been battling health problems for a long time, had been receiving treatment at home under the supervision of doctors for some time. Sunny Deol performed the last rites

Dharmendra's last rites were performed at the Vile Parle crematorium in Mumbai, where his eldest son , Sunny Deol , lit the funeral pyre. His entire family, including his wife Hema Malini, son Bobby Deol, and daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, were present for this tragic occasion. (Bollywood legend Dharmendra death news)

Many prominent film personalities also arrived to pay their last respects to Dharmendra. Among the prominent stars present at the crematorium were Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Karan Deol, film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, and Abhishek Bachchan, among others, who paid heartfelt tributes to the legendary artist. 

Along with this, Shah Rukh Khan,  Rajveer Deol  Salim Khan  Govinda  Mika Singh  Jackie Shroff  Ranveer Singh  Deepika Padukone  Ahmed Khan  Poonam Dhillon  Abhishek Bachchan  Augustya Nanda, and Shabana. Many big stars, including Azmi ( Shabana Azmi),  Saira Banu,  Anil Kapoor  Anupam Kher  Randeep Hooda,  Rajat Bedi,  Zayed Khan,  and Taha Shah Badush,a also reached the cremation ground.

PM Modi and President Murmu paid tribute

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences on Dharmendra's death, saying, "Dharmendra ji's passing marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. He was an iconic film personality and a remarkable actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played. His simplicity, humility, and warmth touched countless hearts. She added, "My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans."

Film director Karan Johar posted about Dharmendra's death on Instagram, "This is the end of an era... a huge megastar, a hero in cinema... incredibly handsome and with the most enigmatic screen presence... He is and always will be a true legend of Indian cinema. He lives in the annals of cinema history in a special and glorious way...

Sunil Shetty expressed grief 

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty expressed his grief, writing, "Power wrapped in decency. Stardom wrapped in warmth...this is Dharam Paaji's legacy. To the world, he was He-Man. Kareena Kapoor shared an old photo of her grandfather Raj Kapoor and Dharmendra embracing each other. She captioned the photo with a heart emoji and wrote, "Forever in Power and Chardi Kala."

Expressing her grief over Dharmendra's death, Kajol wrote on Instagram, "A good and great man is gone and the world is all the poorer for it... It seems like we're losing only the best people in it. Kind at heart and always loving. RIP Dharamji... With love always."

South actor Junior NTR paid tribute

South superstar Junior NTR also paid tribute to Hindi cinema's showman, Dharmendra. He posted on X, writing, "I am deeply saddened to hear of Dharmendra ji's passing. The era he created is irreplaceable, and the sense of belonging he brought to Indian cinema will remain with us forever. My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the entire Deol family."

Apart from these, many artists, including Madhur Bhandarkar, Sharmila Tagore, actress Asha Parekh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and Kailash Kher paid tribute to him.

Superstar Dharmendra has appeared in over 300 films in his 65-year career and holds the record for the most hits in Hindi cinema. Dharmendra debuted in 1960 with "Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere" and rose to fame in the 1960s. His films like "Ae Milan Ki Bela," "Phool Aur Patthar," and "Aaye Din Bahar Ke" catapulted him to overnight popularity during that decade. His films, from "Sholay" to "Yamla Pagla Deewana" and "Apne," have all been fan favorites. Dharmendra continued working even at the age of 89. He was last seen in "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani," starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. He will soon be seen in "21," where he plays Agastya Nanda's father.
