28 years ago, 59 people lost their lives in a massive fire while watching the movie 'Border' at Uphaar Cinema in Green Park, South Delhi. Not only this, more than 100 people were also injured in this fire. This massive fire shook the whole country. 28 years later, a similar scene was seen once again at Select Citywalk Mall in New Delhi. But this time, the fire suddenly broke out not at the screening of 'Border' but at the screening of Vicky Kaushal's film 'Chhaava'. There was chaos in the theater due to this fire. There was a storm at Select Citywalk Mall in New Delhi
In fact, on Wednesday evening of 26 February 2025, a massive fire broke out during the screening of Chhava at New Delhi's Select Citywalk Mall. Reportedly, a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official revealed that the fire broke out around 5:44 pm, following which six fire engines were rushed to the spot. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes. There is no information about any casualties in this incident.
Panic spread due to fire in the curtain
All the people present in the cinema hall were evacuated safely. Due to which a major accident was averted. During this time, there was an atmosphere of panic and stampede among the people. The situation was soon brought under control. At present, the real cause of the fire has not been ascertained. According to the information received, the screen suddenly caught fire while watching the film. After this, people started running away in fear. Due to the presence of several exit doors in the cinema hall, all the spectators managed to get out safely. The administration is investigating the matter.

On June 3, 1997, a massive fire broke out while people were watching the movie 'Border' at Uphaar Cinema in Green Park, South Delhi. During the show, a fire broke out in the transformer room of the cinema hall, which quickly spread to other parts. 59 people died in the fire, including women and children. During the investigation of the incident, it was found that there were no proper security arrangements in the cinema hall. The police arrested Uphaar Cinema owner Sushil Ansal and his son Pranav Ansal from Mumbai.
