The 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2025 with Gujarat Tourism lit up Ahmedabad on 11th October 2025 at EKA Arena, Kankaria Lake. The iconic night brought together the biggest stars, dazzling performances, and heartfelt tributes in a landmark edition that celebrated exceptional talent and excellence in Hindi cinema. Laapataa Ladies took home the coveted Black Lady for Best Film, while Abhishek Bachchan for (I Want To Talk) and Kartik Aaryan for (Chandu Champion) shared the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) awaed for their powerful performances, respectively. Alia Bhatt was awarded Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for Jigra, making it a night that celebrated cinematic brilliance, talent, and glamour.

The evening began with a breath-taking drone show that lit up the Ahmedabad skyline, beautifully tracing the evolution of Hindi cinema through the decades. The night was a spectacle of energy and glamour, as Shah Rukh Khan made a grand entry on the title track of Jawan, setting the tone for a star-studded evening. Akshay Kumar thrilled the audience by opening his act with his iconic song Tum Dil Ki Dhadkan Mein Rehte Ho, dedicating it to Filmfare, followed by electrifying performances on Tip Tip Barsa Pani, Chura Ke Dil Mera, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. He concluded his high-energy performance by getting the audience to groove to the beats of Aje Rokda Ne Udhar Kale. Ananya Panday celebrated Gujarat’s vibrant beats and heritage with Dholida, Udi Udi Jaye, and Nagade Sang Dhol, among others. Adding to the fun, Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar joined in, grooving to the infectious beats of GUJJU, sending audiences in a frenzy. Kriti Sanon paid a glamorous tribute to Zeenat Aman, performing on her classics like Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, Aap Jaisa Koi Meri Zindagi Mein Aaye, and Laila O Laila. Abhishek Bachchan honoured his father Amitabh Bachchan with his iconic hits, including Apni Toh Jaise Taise, Khaike Paan Banaras Wala, and Jumma Chumma. Siddhant Chaturvedi delivered a high-energy homage to Bollywood’s dance legends spanning generations, grooving to Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe, Julie Julie, Aap Ke Aa Jane Se, Dil Ne Dil Ko Pukara, and more.

In a heart-warming moment, the audience joined Shah Rukh Khan in wishing Amitabh Bachchan a happy birthday, with Jaya Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda present in the audience to witness the celebration.

The evening hit a nostalgic high when Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol took the stage together, recreating their most beloved on-screen moments from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Adding to the night’s surprises, host Maniesh Paul stepped into the audience and invited Sanju Rathod to perform, lighting up the arena with his hit tracks Shaky Shaky and Gulabi Sadi. The night also saw Rajkummar Rao, fresh off his win for Best Actor (Critics’), share a light-hearted moment on stage with Shah Rukh Khan and Maniesh Paul, as the trio delighted fans by performing the hook step of Aayi Nayi from Stree 2. One of the most moving moments of the night came when Abhishek Bachchan took home his career’s first Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for I Want To Talk and delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech that drew warm applause from peers and audience alike.

The milestone 70th edition honoured excellence across diverse categories, celebrating the finest talent in Hindi cinema. In the acting categories, Rajkummar Rao impressed audiences with his performance in Srikanth, which earned him the Best Actor Critics’ award, while Pratibha Ranta received the Best Actress Critics' award for her nuanced portrayal in Laapataa Ladies. Ravi Kishan (Laapata Ladies) bagged Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male), and Chhaya Kadam (Laapata Ladies) took home Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female) for their standout performances. The award for Best Film (Critics’) went to I Want To Talk, while Kiran Rao won Best Director for Laapataa Ladies, honoured for its exceptional storytelling and direction.

In the music categories,Ram Sampath won Best Music Album, Prashant Pandey was recognised for Best Lyrics, and Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi bagged Best Playback Singer (Male) and Best Playback Singer (Female) respectively, for songs Sajni and Aaj Ki Raat, which resonated with audiences across the nation. The Technical and Writing Award winners, announced earlier at the press conference, were also felicitated during the ceremony. These included Kill, Laapataa Ladies, Article 370, I Want To Talk, and Munjya, among others, each recognised for its artistic and technical brilliance.

Among the winners, Laapataa Ladies emerged as the top winner with 13 awards, followed by Kill with 6 honours, and I Want to Talk bagged 3 awards among others. Kunal Kemmu and Aditya Suhas Jambhale were honoured as Best Debut Director for Madgaon Express and Article 370, respectively.

The evening also celebrated cinema’s legacy as Zeenat Aman and Shyam Benegal received the Lifetime Achievement Award for their remarkable contribution to Hindi cinema. The evening also featured a special segment, ‘Cine Icon Awards’, celebrating the evolution of cinema through the decades. The segment honoured icons from every era – Bimal Roy, Dilip Kumar, and Meena Kumari from the 1950s; Nutan from the 1960s; Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, and Ramesh Sippy from the 1970s; Sridevi from the 1980s; Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Karan Johar from the 1990s. Together, these tributes beautifully captured the journey of Hindi cinema and the legends who have shaped it across eras.
