Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 Faces Legal Trouble, Receives Notice

Indian 2 OTT Release In Trouble: Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 was released in theaters on 12 July 2024. The film performed well at the box office. At present, Indian 2 has been released on OTT. At the same time, Kamal Haasan's film Indian 2 has received a legal notice, it has been accused of violating the rules of OTT release.

Because of this Indian 2 got a legal notice

Actually, according to information received from sources, “The Multiplex Association of India has made some rules for the theatrical release of films in Hindi. As per the rules, producers have to follow a strict OTT window of 8 weeks and those who do not follow the laid down guidelines will not get a release in the top 3 national multiplex chains - PVRInox and Cinepolis. The team of Indian 2 aka Hindustani 2 had agreed to the said guidelines and got a release in the national chain”.

The film was released on OTT ahead of time

The report further stated that Indian 2 was supposed to be made available on OTT on September 6, but the makers released it a month earlier. This disappointed the Multiplex Association, which decided to take legal action against the makers. But the Multiplex Association was shocked to find that the Hindi version of Indian 2 is now streaming on Netflix, much earlier than the stipulated 8-week period. In an ideal world, Hindustani 2 should have streamed on September 6, but it is already on air and this did not go down well with the powerful players in the exhibition sector."

Indian 2 was released on 12 July

Directed by Shankar, Indian 2 is a sequel to the 1996 hit film Indian. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh and Priya Bhavani Shankar. It is produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, while the music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 150 crore. Indian 2 was released in theatres on 12 July 2024. Kamal Haasan and filmmaker S Shankar have also confirmed the third part of the Indian franchise.

Indian 3 will be released in the year 2025

The third part of the Indian film franchise will release in 2025. Revealing that both Indian 2 and Indian 3 were shot simultaneously, Kamal Haasan at the film's trailer launch event in Mumbai had said, "It's the director's choice. I will talk about myself. When I made Vishwaroop, we read the script, it was 350 pages long. I was asked to edit it and was told that it would make a great film. On the first day of Vishwaroop, I was shooting Vishwaroop Part 2. I had made the decision, and told my crew that this film would be in two parts. I told them that we have embarked on a journey to make two films and they will be paid accordingly. I was shooting sporadically in between the two films.
