Kangana Ranaut Expresses Grief Over ‘Emergency’ Film Delay

Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency has been postponed due to being surrounded by controversies. The film was scheduled to release in theaters on 6 September 2024. Now Kangana Ranaut has shared on social media that the new release date of her directorial film Emergency will be announced soon.

Kangana Ranaut said this about the 'Emergency'

Let us tell you that Kangana Ranaut tweeted on Twitter on Friday, September 6, writing, "With a heavy heart I announce that my directorial film Emergency has been postponed, we are still waiting for certification from the censor board, the new release date will be announced soon, thank you for your understanding and patience". At the same time, an ex-user reacted to Kangana's announcement and tweeted, "Kangana Ranaut, there is no need to be sad. We are with you, whenever it is released, we will definitely watch it and no matter what, we will support you". Another user tweeted, "Sister, don't be upset. Fight for the people and against injustice. Always be with those who want justice". 

Kangana gave this statement on the delay in the 'Emergency'

Earlier, Kangana Ranaut expressed her disappointment over the delay in the 'Emergency' and mentioned her desperation to constantly prove herself. She said, "Emergency has been imposed on my film itself. This is a very disappointing situation. I am very disappointed with my country and whatever the situation is."

A hearing on Emergency will be held on September 19

The film is a biographical political thriller based on the life of Indira Gandhi, who imposed a 21-month emergency from 1975 to 1977. 'Emergency' has been surrounded by controversies for some time, including criticism from several Sikh groups. At the same time, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday said that it is unable to direct the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to issue a certificate, as it would contradict the order of the MP High Court. The court has also asked the CBFC to take a decision by September 18. The next hearing of the case is to be held on September 19.

Bombay High Court's door was knocked for the certificate of 'emergency'

Zee Entertainment Enterprises, the co-producer of 'Emergency', approached the Bombay High Court seeking the release of the film and a censor certificate. A petition was filed in the Bombay High Court, claiming that the censor board had arbitrarily and illegally withheld the censor certificate of the film. The MP High Court had directed the CBFC to consider the representations made by Sikh groups who had filed a petition before it. After the Bombay High Court refused to grant certification to the film 'Emergency', Kangana Ranaut said that she has become everyone's favorite target and this is the price she has to pay for 'waking up a sleeping nation'.

Kangana will be seen in the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi

Written and directed by Kangana Ranaut, 'Emergency' stars her in the lead role and also features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. Produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Renu Pitti, the film's music is composed by Sanchit Balhara and GV Prakash Kumar, while the screenplay and dialogues are written by Ritesh Shah. Kangana Ranaut plays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film. The film was earlier scheduled to release on September 6.
