Kesari Chapter 2 FIR Filed Against Makers: Akshay Kumar's film 'Kesari Chapter 2' has come into controversy. Meanwhile, West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress on Wednesday attacked the makers of the Bollywood film Kesari Chapter 2, accusing them of distorting the history of the state's contribution to India's freedom struggle and insulting Bengali revolutionaries. Along with this, an FIR has been registered against the makers.
FIR lodged against the makers of Kesari Chapter 2
Let us tell you that an FIR has been registered against seven producers of Kesari Chapter 2 under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Bidhannagar South Police Station.
These are the reasons for the disputes
Let us tell you that the controversy started over a scene in the film, in which prominent freedom fighters of Bengal, especially the iconic Bengali revolutionaries Khudiram Bose and Barindra Kumar Ghosh, have been misrepresented. According to TMC, Khudiram Bose has been referred to as "Khudiram Singh" in the film, and Barindra Kumar Ghosh has been presented as "Birendra Kumar" of Amritsar.
The TMC leader said this,
Senior TMC leaders Kunal Ghosh and Arup Chakraborty addressed a press conference at the party headquarters and condemned the portrayal, calling it a "deliberate distortion of history" and a "deep insult to Bengal". Kunal Ghosh said, "The names of Bengali revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for India's independence are being distorted. This is not just a mistake - it is a conspiracy to erase Bengal's role in the freedom movement. How did such a film get a censor certificate?"
CM Mamata Banerjee reacted
Without naming the film, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the filmmakers of working in connivance with the BJP to downplay the contribution of Bengal's freedom fighters. "Attempts are being made to downplay the role played by Bengali revolutionaries during the freedom struggle. We condemn this. The BJP is targeting Bengal and our cultural heritage," she said.
The TMC alleged that the BJP-led government at the Centre has repeatedly attempted to undermine Bengal's history and cultural identity. "This is not the first time. The central government has often tampered with Bengal's heritage and dignity. But this time it has crossed all limits," Ghokunlal Ghosh claimed. Apart from Khudiram Bose and Barindra Kumar Ghosh, the film also misrepresents Hemchandra Kanungo, a revolutionary who trained youths in bomb-making. Ghosh claimed that the filmmakers allegedly replaced his character with a fictional character named Kripal Singh.
