Kamra ( Case Against Kunal Kamra ) called the vandalism at the venue "stupid" and compared it to someone overturning a truck carrying tomatoes because they didn't like the butter chicken served to them. "To the mob who decided Habitat should not stand: An entertainment venue is simply a stage. A place for all kinds of shows. Habitat (or any other venue) is not responsible for my comedy, nor does it have any power or control over what I say or do, nor does any political party," Kamra's statement further read.

According to officials, Mumbai's civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), visited the demolished site and said they have demolished a temporary structure in the open space of the hotel. In his statement, Kamra criticised the BMC for demolishing the place without any prior notice. The comedian quipped that for his next show, he would probably opt for "Elphinstone Bridge, or any other structure in Mumbai" that needs to be demolished quickly.

The comedian ( Kunal Kamra Controversy ) also discussed his right to freedom of expression, and alleged "threats by politicians to teach him a lesson". Kamra wrote, "Your inability to joke at the expense of a powerful public figure does not change the nature of my right. As far as I know, it is not against the law to mock our leaders and the circus that is our political system. However, I am willing to cooperate with the police and courts for any lawful action taken against me. But will the law be applied fairly and equally against those who have decided that vandalism is the appropriate response when they are offended by a joke?"
