The allegations of sexual harassment that started after the release of the Hema Committee report in Kerala have now reached Tamil Nadu. Now Malayalam actress Soumya has accused a Tamil director of mental, physical and sexual abuse. Actress Soumya alleged that the filmmaker 'groomed' her as a sex slave.
Soumya accuses Tamil director of sexual harassment
Let us tell you that even though Malayalam actress Soumya did not reveal the name of the director in her latest interview, actress Soumya said that she will reveal the identity of the man to the special police team formed by the Kerala government, which is currently investigating allegations of sexual harassment in the film industry.
When the director took advantage of the absence of his wife at home
Malayalam actress Soumya told in an interview, "One day, when the director's wife was not around, this man kissed me, calling me his daughter. I was completely shocked. I wanted to tell my friends this, but I couldn't. I was ashamed, I felt I had done something wrong and I should behave well with this man. So I kept going for practice, for dance rehearsals. Every day I went back and slowly, step by step, this man used my body completely for his benefit. At one point he forced himself on me. So he raped me. This went on for about a year when I was in college."
It took the actress 30 years to recover from all this
Along with this, Malayalam actress Soumya claimed that even though the director used to call her his 'daughter', he 'messed up' with her and beat her up. Soumya said, "It took me 30 years to overcome this feeling of 'shame'. I encourage victims to report all such abuse".
There have been many cases of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry
These allegations have come to light at a time when several cases of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry have shaken the entire nation. It all started when the findings of the Justice Hema Committee report were made public earlier this month. So far, an FIR has been filed in the case against nine film personalities, including Mukesh, Siddique, Jayasurya, Edavela Babu, Nivin Pauly, Maniyan Pillai Raju, director Ranjith, V.K. Prakash, production executives Vichu and Noble, after female actresses filed complaints.
