One of those great actresses was Usha Kiran. Usha Kiran was born on April 22, 1929 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. In her acting career spanning four decades, Usha worked in more than 50 films. Today's youth may know very little about Usha, but her contribution to films can never be forgotten. Usha used to be a lead actress in films in those days when it was considered very wrong for a woman to work in a movie. Father wanted to make his daughter an actress However, there was no such thinking in Usha Kiran's family. Her father Balkrishna Vishnu Marathe inspired his daughter to become an actress. Usha's real name was Usha Marathe, but she changed her name to Usha Kiran for the big screen. Usha started her career with theater and acted in more than 50 Hindi and Marathi films in her career. He made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Kalpana’ (1948). Usha Kiran's father wanted her to become an actress, for which he made a film and cast his daughter. However, this film flopped badly. Many films with Dilip Kumar Usha Kiran first worked as a lead actress in Amiya Chakraborty's film 'Gauna' (1950). In the film, she played the role of Sasikala's mother, while Usha was only 22 years old at that time. After that she worked in Patita (1953). Which proved to be a big hit and Usha became a star overnight. Usha worked in 'Adhikaar' (1954), 'Parivar' (1956), 'Dushman' (1957). Usha worked with Dilip Kumar in 'Musafir' (1957), 'Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere' (1960), 'Najrana' (1961) and 'Kabuliwala' (1961). Usha Kiran died on 9 March 2000 due to cancer. Usha's daughter Tanvi Azmi is a well-known actress and grand daughter Saiyami Kher has also appeared in many films.
