Directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Shahid (2013) was highly praised and received several accolades. The film was awarded the Silver Gateway Trophy at the Mumbai Film Festival, and Hansal Mehta won the Best Director Award. Additionally, Rajkummar Rao won the National Film Award for Best Actor at the 61st National Film Awards.
The film is based on the life of human rights activist Shahid Azmi, who was tragically murdered in Mumbai in 2010.
