The Hindi version of the film also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kazmi, Tinu Anand, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Radhika Apte in lead roles. In the Tamil version, Katrina and Vijay share the screen with Radhika Sarathkumar, Gayathri, Shanmugarajan, Kavin Jai Babu, and Rajesh Williams.

Press conference for the promotion of the film

As part of the promotion of the film "Merry Christmas", a press conference was organized on January 4 at PVR Cinemas in the Juhu area of Mumbai, in which apart from producers, directors, and editors, actress Katrina Kaif, actor Vijay Sethupathi, actor Sanjay Kapoor and lyricist Varun Grover were present.

Which has been composed by composer Pritam. The song “Nazar Teri Toofan” beautifully blends traditional and contemporary music. Pritam's signature touch is visible in the composition, which creates an immersive experience for music lovers. Papon has sung the song very beautifully. And today the release of this song was also announced. The enthusiasm among fans and music enthusiasts is visible in the song.

The trailer begins in a true Sriram Raghavan style

The 140-second trailer begins in true Sriram Raghavan style, presenting a split screen showcasing two mixer grinders. One for grinding food items and the other for tablets. Through a series of subsequent scenes, the video perfectly sets the tone, with retro scenes highlighting the importance of cinema, carnivals, toys, the color red, and other Christmas-related elements in the film. The trailer of the film 'Merry Christmas' shows Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi going on a date before the world around them is destroyed. This teller claims that the film contains everything that is expected from the filmmaker and more.

A film with the full package of suspense

Overall, in the film 'Merry Christmas', Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif play the roles of strangers, whose paths meet in Mumbai on the eve of Christmas. The film promises deception, conspiracy, and murder. These elements have been repeated in four of Raghavan's previous five films, including Johnny Gaddaar, Badlapur, and Andhadhun.

The film story is inspired by a French novel

“Merry Christmas” is not an original story. Rather, this film is inspired by a French novel. In a special conversation on the occasion of Taylor launch, Shriram Shradhavan said – “Yes! The film is based on a book, which is mentioned in the title. I don't want to name it for obvious reasons. When Alfred Hitchcock decided to make Psycho, he asked his people to buy every available copy of Robert Bloch's book on which the film is based. I have also purchased all the copies available on Amazon, which I will be giving to my friends after the film is released. This book is not only an exciting story but also about relationships. After ‘Andhadhun’ I did not want to do twist-and-turn work again. Have a cool Merry Christmas. It is the most expensive low-budget film ever made.

Director Sriram Raghavan said

Director Sriram Raghavan further added, “I also like one-night stories, where there is compression of time and space and everything you know about the characters happens only within a time frame. The first such film I saw was Yash Chopra's Ittefaq. I thought it was more esoteric than the film it was adapted from, Signpost to Murder. There is a beautiful sequence in Ittefaq in which Rajesh Khanna and Nanda are sitting in a room and talking for a long time. As far as our film ‘Merry Christmas’ is concerned, it starts like a romance and then things get crazy. It starts slow which gradually becomes a wild ride. I have done some experiments in this film.

This is Vijay Sethupathi's third Hindi film

“Merry Christmas” is actor Vijay Sethupathi's third Hindi film. Talking about working with Katrina Kaif and director Sriram Raghavan in this film, he said - "Our first meeting with Sriram Raghavan was at the 'Melbourne International Film Festival'. Maintained contact with him since then. Earlier I thought he was a very serious person, but he is not a serious person. He always talks by making videos. Even in Melbourne, Shriram Raghavan had made and presented me some videos, which I liked a lot and I became his fan.

The discussion of the film was done on a Zoom call

Sriram Raghavan told me about this film on Zoom during Covid and I agreed to work with him. Sriram's specialty is that he does not tell everything about the film, he tells only as much as he can in fifteen minutes. I worked with him for about a month in connection with this film. I try to understand every director first, it makes it easier to work with him. My birthday is 16th January and this time on 16th January, 20 years of the first film 'Ek Haseena Thi' directed by Shri Ram are going to be completed. Whereas Katrina Kaif is very beautiful, soft-spoken, and absorbs everything very quickly.

Katrina Kaif shared about her first meeting with Vijay Sethupathi

Regarding her first meeting with Vijay Sethupathi, Katrina Kaif said - "First of all, I always wanted to do a film with Sriram Raghavan sir. I was happy to get this opportunity. We met Vijay Sethupathi for the first time in Sriram Raghavan's office. All three of us were sitting in a room in Shri Ram Raghavan's office. Before that, I had seen a picture of Vijay Sethupathi, in which he has a white beard. But the Vijay who was in front of me was very different. I was already excited about working with Vijay sir. Whenever Vijay sir used to talk about the scene, I used to listen to him with fascination. I can't praise Shri Ram Sir's working style enough."

Going to a thrilling ride for the audience

Produced by Ramesh Taurani, 'Merry Christmas' is the first collaboration between Tips Films and Matchbox Pictures. With its commitment to providing high-quality entertainment, audiences can look forward to a truly thrilling ride at the movies.

Sriram Raghavan started shooting for other films as well

Let us tell you that “Merry Christmas” director Sriram Raghavan has started shooting for the film Ikkis starring Agastya Nanda. This biopic depicts the bravery displayed by Indian Army soldier Arun Khetarpal during the Indo-Pak War of 1971. Ikkis, which also stars Dharmendra, will be released in 2025. But today he did not talk about this film.
