Indian National Film Award winner Rishab Shetty is in the news for his new film Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film was announced a few days ago. Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty has expressed his reaction about his upcoming film Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The actor called it an 'honor' to play the role of a historical personality.

Let us tell you that while talking about his role in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rishabh Shetty said that Shivaji's life has always fascinated him and stars rarely get opportunities like this biopic. He said, "Shivaji's life and legacy have always fascinated me and I am very proud to be associated with such a great historical personality. Opportunities like a biopic come only once in a lifetime. As an actor and an artist, I feel it is an honor to bring his story alive on the big screen".

"I said yes without blinking" - Rishab Shetty

Speaking on the project, Rishab Shetty said that the director's vision for the film was so 'grand' that it didn't take him much time to say yes to the project. He said, "Sandeep's vision for the film was so grand that as soon as I heard the film, I said yes without blinking. He is a national hero whose impact transcends history and I feel very proud to bring his story to the screen". Rishab also said that he is looking forward to sharing the film filled with 'enough drama, grandeur and emotions' with the people.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be released this year 

Let us tell you that Rishab Shetty shared the first look poster of his upcoming film, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on 3 December 2024 on X (formerly Twitter). Sharing this poster, he wrote, "Our honor and privilege, present the epic saga of India's greatest warrior king. India's pride: #ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj. #BharatKaGarvChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj. This is not just a film. It is a battle cry to honor a warrior who fought against all odds, challenged the might of the mighty Mughal Empire and created a legacy that can never be forgotten. Get ready for the magnum opus action drama, a cinematic experience unlike any other, as we bring forth the untold story of #ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj. Global release on 21st January 2027". The film will be directed by Sandeep Singh, who is known for directing several acclaimed films including Priyanka Chopra starrer Mary Kom, Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund. 

Rishab Shetty's upcoming movies

Talking about the work front, these days Rishab Shetty is working on the prequel of his blockbuster Kantara. The film titled Kantara: Chapter 1 will be released in theaters on October 2, 2025. The film is being backed by Hombale Films and will be released in English, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Apart from this, Rishab Shetty will also be seen playing the lead role in Prashant Verma's Hanu-Man sequel, in which he will play the role of Hindu deity, Lord Hanuman.
