In 1999, an Indian airliner IC 814 was hijacked by a group of five masked Pakistani terrorists, members of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM), while flying from Nepal to New Delhi. They ordered the plane to be flown to several locations, and eventually to Kandahar, which was under the control of the Taliban at the time.
