It is being told that Govinda's former manager died at 4 pm at his residence in Niranjan Society, Chikkuwadi, Borivali West.

In fact, recently Govinda's current secretary Shashi Sinha talked about the actor's relationship with Shashi Prabhu. During a conversation, he said, "He was Govinda's childhood friend. From the beginning, they had a very close relationship and for many years, he also worked for Govinda. I got to know him later. But during Govinda's initial struggles, he was like a brother to him. Govinda loved him like a brother and their relationship is the same even today". Along with this, Shashi Sinha also told how Prabhu was a part of Govinda's political career. He said that Prabhu played an important role in handling Govinda's political affairs. When asked if Prabhu can be credited for Govinda's entry into politics, Sinha denied it and said, "No, there was nothing like that."

In an interview in 2004, Shashi Prabhu spoke about Govinda's political journey and whether he guided him. He said, "Yes, I advise him, but insist that he does what he feels is best. I may be senior to him in politics but it is not necessary that seniors are better than juniors. Youngsters and new entrants always have their own ideas. Seniors have more knowledge, but young people have knowledge of today's world."
