- Film Review- Nikita Roy
- Director: Kush S Sinha
- Cast: Sonakshi Sinha, Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal
- Rating- 2 stars
Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Rampal, and Paresh Rawal's horror-drama film Nikita Roy has been released in theatres. The film has not received any special response from the audience. In such a situation, if you are planning to watch the film, then read the review once before watching the film.
Story
Set in London, Nikita Roy is the story of Nikita (Sonakshi Sinha), a determined rationalist, who investigates the mysterious death of her brother Sanal (Arjun Rampal), a scientist trying to expose spiritual guru Amardev (Paresh Rawal). As Nikita digs deeper with the help of Jolly (Suhail Nayyar), horrifying events unfold. Secret recordings, the suicide of a key informant, and supernatural signs blur the line between logic and faith. With a corrupt cop complicating the case, Nikita races to find out the truth. Will the police be able to find Nikita's truth? To know the full details of the film, you will have to first go to the theaters and watch the film.
Acting
Sonakshi Sinha as Nikita tries her best, but the script never allows her to rise above the chaos. Suhail Nayyar supports her well, and together they make at least the first half worth watching. Paresh Rawal, despite being the main villain, is woefully underused. As for Kush S Sinha, who is making his directorial debut, he has unfortunately chosen a subject on which he has a weak grip.
Direction
The biggest feature of Kush Sinha's direction is his vision. He avoids resorting to cheap tricks to scare the audience and builds tension through a well-crafted story. His mature and restrained approach elevates the film. The makers' attention to detail is evident in every frame, making the film technically strong as well as rich in content. Abhinav Shekhar's music is forgettable. 'Kaali Raatein' succeeds on the basis of its placement and graphics. Amar Mohile's background score adds a more bizarre feel to it.
Concussion
Nikita Roy is not just a horror film. It is a film that raises questions. Do we fall into the trap of superstition too easily? Are spiritual gurus always who they claim to be? If you are looking for a thriller that offers something beyond scares, then Nikita Roy is a must-watch.
