Today, March 24th, marks the 46th birthday of Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, a man who has carved a unique path in Hindi cinema. Born on March 24, 1979, Hashmi's journey in Indian cinema has been anything but ordinary. His journey in Hindi cinema has been a fascinating one, marked by both controversy and critical acclaim.
Early Days and the Serial Kisser Tag
Born into the illustrious Bhatt family, Hashmi started his foray into cinema as an assistant director. His on-screen debut in "Footpath" (2003) got him critical acclamation and then it was followed by the erotic thriller "Murder" (2004) which skyrocketed him to fame. However, the film's success also led to the infamous "serial kisser" tag, typecasting him in roles featuring intimate scenes.
Beyond Box Office Success
While the 'Serial Kisser' tag initially overshadowed his acting prowess, Hashmi never shied away from unconventional roles. He showcased his versatility in films like "Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai" (2010). He continued to impress with critically acclaimed performances in "The Dirty Picture" (2011) and "Shanghai" (2012).
There was a time when Hashmi's pictures were not doing well at the box office but even then the songs of his films were superhit. No wonder he is called a superstar with hit songs.
After a period of films that didn't resonate with audiences, Hashmi took a hiatus. He returned triumphantly in 2023 with the action thriller "Tiger 3," a massive commercial success. After this success, he showcased his talent in the Disney+Hotstar show 'Showtime' where he played the role of a producer. His character has been loved by the audience.
Beyond Acting
Hashmi is not just an actor; he's a producer and a singer as well. He launched his music label, Emraan Hashmi Music, in 2014 and has lent his voice to several films.
Let us tell you that in 2016, Hashmi launched his autobiographical book "The Kiss of Life". The book was based on his son's journey against cancer. His son who was born on 3 February 2010 was diagnosed with first-stage cancer on 15 January 2014. Later in January 2019, his son was declared cancer-free.
