Ashish Dixit, who has previously appeared in ‘Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya’, ‘Code Red’, ‘Gumrah: End of Innocence’, ‘Dil Dhoondta Hai’, ‘Aap Ke Aa Jaane Se’, ‘Crime Patrol’, and ‘Savdhaan India’, is now playing the lead in Dangal TV’s latest offering ‘Pati Brahmachari’.
Recently, he spoke to Mayapuri magazine’s journalist Shilpa Patil and shared his thoughts on the character, the show’s concept, his experience working with Shashi-Sumeet Productions, and his on-screen chemistry with co-actors. Let’s take a look at what he had to say:
- The very first question that arises is – How can a husband be a ‘brahmachari’? That’s quite a unique and intriguing concept.
Absolutely! That’s the uniqueness of this show. As soon as people hear the name ‘Pati Brahmachari’, their immediate reaction is – “How can a husband be a brahmachari (celibate)?” The entire story revolves around this very question. The twist in the tale is whether the wife will allow her husband to remain a brahmachari or not — and that’s where all the drama unfolds.
- You’ve played many roles on television before. How different is this one?
This role is completely new and challenging for me. I’ve been in the industry for a while, but I’ve never played a character like this. He’s extremely confident, avoids women completely, and doesn’t even talk to them. As you might have seen in the promo, his style and confidence are very distinct.
- What is your character’s goal in the show?
Well, being a brahmachari means he maintains distance from women. But things take a turn when a girl enters his life — an educated woman who aspires to become an IAS officer. That’s when the real story begins. It’ll be interesting to see whether he can stay true to his vow of celibacy. Even on set, I have to be cautious — whether it’s maintaining physical distance or not even accidentally touching the clothes of my female co-actors. The role requires a lot of alertness during shoots.
- What is the biggest highlight of this show?
The biggest USP is the concept itself — something that’s never been explored on Indian television before. The title itself makes the audience curious, and Shashi-Sumeet Productions has written and presented it brilliantly.
- How has your experience been working with Shashi-Sumeet Productions?
It has been a wonderful experience. I’m truly grateful to Shashi Ma’am, Sumeet Sir, and the entire team for trusting me. Working with them is both professional and creatively satisfying.
- The promo featuring your chemistry with the lead actress has received a great response. What would you like to say about that?
Yes, and I believe that’s because our characters are polar opposites — he’s a brahmachari, and she’s a highly ambitious girl. This contrast adds fun to the story. Their chemistry builds gradually through this clash of ideologies.
- Tell us a bit about your character’s father and their relationship.
His father is also a very interesting character. The son follows his father's every command. But there is tension between them. Whether that tension transforms into love or deepens further — that will be interesting to watch. Their relationship is layered and nuanced.
- Any message for your fans and the audience?
Whatever I am today is because of my audience. If they don’t show love to our shows, who are we making them for? I just want to say that ‘Pati Brahmachari’ is a completely new kind of experience. Please do watch it. This is my second show on Dangal TV, and the audience has always showered me with love on this channel.
‘Pati Brahmachari’ airs Monday to Saturday at 7 PM on Dangal TV.
