Today 08th December is superstar( ‘Garam-Dharam’) Dharmendra-paaji’s 88th Birthday! The veteran yet evergreen youthful actor Dharam-paji will celebrate it with his entire Deol parivaar. All his Indian and NRI Fans globally will also celebrate his B’day with joyful gusto and listening to his popular songs and watching his iconic memorable movies
This year 2023 has been maha-lucky for the Deol parivaar! First it was Dharam-paaji’s super-hit Karan Johar’s movie ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani (July 2023).where evergreen rock-star Dharam-jee in the romantic role of ‘Kanwal’ was paired opposite both Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan. Then came Sunny’s powerful role of Tara Singh in Zee Studios movie Gadar-2 (August) followed by Bobby Deol’s macho yet ‘mute’ character Abrar Haque in latest multi-starrer mega-hit Animal (December ) !
All the three star actors Dharam-paaji, Sunny-paaji and Bobby were and are emotionally delighted when theatre audiences showered them with love and admiration in their impactful screen-roles.
Speaking to me, (former elected M.P.) Dharam-paaji (also a romantic poet-lyricist) had said, “ Its so overwhelming that I got such a great positive audience response to my unconventional role in Rocky Aur Rani..’ Where there was a sensitive flashback romance with Shabana Azmi and even a mild decent kissing scene. Some people felt it was bold considering my age, but for me it’s a baayein-haath-ka-khel, ( quite easy) because I know I am spontaneous and not conscious. Even director Karan Johar was surprised and very happy with my natural shot-takes,” said Dharam-jee who is likely to win most of the competitive Awards (during 2024) for his memorable brilliant screen-performance in ‘Rocky Aur Rani…’ which has reportedly merited Rs 356 crores plus collections
The versatile star-actor Aquarius-zodiac-sign Bobby Deol (this journalist shares the same birthday with Bobby on January 27 ) was so emotionally overwhelmed (with reportedly Rs 500 crores plus collections box-office success of ‘Animal’) that Bobby was seen openly crying with joy in the presence of the news-media photographers. In an image redefining extended cameo-role (around just 15 minutes) in a three-and-a-half-hours in Animal, handsome Bobby looks macho-tough and also dangerous on screen. With his well-toned bare-chest body and with his ‘mute’ character Abrar-bhai, and fights-action scenes he has impressed the theatre audiences. The friendly natured Bobby is honest when he says, “Frankly, I would like to give due credit to genius director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for daring to cast me in this powerful ‘mute’ character. The daring Reddy-gaaru cast me after checking one of my old cricket-league pictures, when I was not working at all but waiting and hunting for good roles,” discloses Bobby who is likely to be seen in the sequel ‘Animal Park’ But that's only if his ‘killed’ character Abrar is revived or resurrected in a different screen-avataar.
In the recent past Bobby was seen playing the lead character in OTT movies like ‘Class of ‘83’ ( on Netflix). Love Hostel ( released on ZEE5) and then the popular crime-drama web-series Prakash Jha directed OTT (MX Player original) show series ‘Aashram’ produced and directed by Prakash Jha, where Booby had a dynamic dual role as ‘godman’ Baba Nirala and Monty Singh . So this return to the big-screen with mega-hit movie Animal is a major mega-twist in Bobby’s acting career which started way back in Barsaat (1995)..
