Know How Different Aamir Khan’s New Film 'Sitaare Zameen Par' Is From Its Prequel 'Taare Zameen Par'

After three years, Aamir Khan is once again in the headlines, preparing to make his comeback on the big screen. He is all set to bring the sequel to his critically acclaimed and self-directed film ‘Taare Zameen Par’, titled Sitaare Zameen Par. This time, however, Aamir is only the producer, with R.S. Prasanna taking on the directorial responsibilities. After his previous film Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), which was a flop, Aamir had taken a break from the screen, making his fans even more eager to see what special he is bringing this time. The predecessor of Sitaare Zameen Par was Taare Zameen Par, a widely loved film. Let’s take a look at what differentiates the two and how they differ from each other.

The story of Taare Zameen Par revolves around an 8-year-old student, Ishaan (Darsheel Safary), who suffers from dyslexia, and his art teacher, Nikumbh (Aamir Khan), who tries to help him overcome the condition. It was a serious film conveying a message to children about overcoming physical disabilities.

Sitaare Zameen Par: Aamir Khan’s Rebel Coach Story

Sitaare Zameen Par is also a film about differently-abled individuals, talking about love, friendship, and life. In Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan played a sensitive character, while in Sitaare Zameen Par, he portrays a coach named Gulshan, who is rude, politically incorrect, quarrels with his mother and wife, and insults everyone around him. Internally, he is dealing with many conflicts. How he overcomes these and for whom is the theme of this film. The objective of the film is the same as Taare Zameen Par.

Sitaare Zameen Par: Aamir Khan Adapts Champions

Sitaare Zameen Par is said to be an adaptation of the Spanish film Champions by Javier Fesser. The film has already been remade three times in different languages. It will be interesting to see how Aamir Khan, known for his perfectionism, has added a touch of Indian thought to the story. Aamir never works on a subject unless it has significant potential. His production banner (Aamir Khan Productions) previously produced Laapata Ladies, which was also a remake of a film that had already been adapted three times, yet Laapata Ladies became a huge success, even reaching the Oscars.

Sitaare Zameen Par: Aamir, Genelia & 10 Debuts

In Taare Zameen Par (2007), there was only one child, Darsheel Safary, who stole the limelight. However, Darsheel could not be part of the sequel Sitaare Zameen Par, as he is now 28 years old. In Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir has introduced ten new faces, who have not worked in films before and are completely fresh. Aamir’s heroine in the film is Genelia Deshmukh, who will be working with Aamir for the first time on screen, though she had previously worked with Aamir’s nephew, Imran Khan, in’ Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ under the Aamir Khan Productions banner.

Sitaare Zameen Par: Aamir’s Return with Purpose

Sitaare Zameen Par is produced by Aamir Khan along with Aparna Purohit. The director Prasanna is known for the film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and has experience in producing and directing a film about Chinmayanand Saraswati’s life titled On The Quest. The Hindi screenplay of the film is written by Divya Nidhi Sharma, and the music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The audience's anticipation is high as this is an Aamir Khan film, and since Aamir himself is on screen, the film is expected to be both entertaining and carry a meaningful message.
